Schmid & Kincaid Family Cemeteries


The SCHMID and KINCAID Family Cemeteries are located on what is now between
the 12th and 18th fairways of the Universal City Municipal Golf Course off
IH-35 within the city limits of Selma, Bexar County, Texas. The headstones
from these graves disappeared years ago, however, the remains are still
there. This is also the site of the Geier & Schmid Family Farms Historical Marker.

+ The SCHMID Family Cemetery contains the following individuals:

- Wilhelm GEIER, b. 1809, came from Wolfenbuttel, Germany in 1849 to New Braunfels, then to Selma in 1854
- Theodora GEIER, b. 1806, came from Wolfenbuttel, Germany in 1849 to New Braunfels, then to Selma in 1854
- Martin SCHMID, b. 1820, d. about June 15, 1880 in Selma, Texas, came to Texas from Wuertemberg, Germany
- Johanna Geier SCHMID, b. 1839, listed as "paralized" person in 1880 census, d. June 1899, came with her parents from Wolfenbuttel, Germany in 1849 to New Braunfels, then to Selma in 1854, daughter of Wilhelm & Theodora
- William SCHMID, son of Johanna and Martin Schmid, b. March 1856 in Selma, Texas, baptized April 13, 1856, shot down in Bracken, Texas August 11, 1889 by George Bolton in front of H. Stroeck Groceries and Dry Goods Store on the main street of town, former deputy and postmaster (1886-1889) of Selma
- Sidonia Schmid HAILE (Mrs. Robert Evans Lee), daughter of Johanna and Martin Schmid, b. December 16, 1865 in Selma, Texas, d. May 11, 1909 [another survey has her name spelled Sedonia]
- Johanna SCHMID (young daughter of Martin & Johanna)
- unidentified child of Martin & Johanna


+ The KINCAID Family Cemetery contained the following:

(1) John DAVIS, In Memory of, Born July 4, 1775, Died Feb 8, 1858
[father of Talitha]

(2) David G. KINCAID, In Memory of, Born Feb 17, 1806, Died Feb 5, 1871
[Husband of Talitha; b. in Ky, was son of David G. Kincaid, Sr. They came to Republic of Texas before 1 Oct 1837 to what is now Polk Co. Kincaid family is also mentioned on historical marker linked at the top of this page. Click here for a photo of David.]

(3) Josephine P. KINCAID, In Memory of, Born May 20, 1851, Died June 10, 1874
[daughter of David G. & Talitha A. Kincaid]

(4) Esther A. WALLACE, In Memory of, Born Nov 29, 1849, Died Sept 9, 1874
[daughter of David G. & Talitha A. Kincaid]

- T. A. KINCAID, Born Nov 18, 1814, Died July 5, 1885, Rest Mother, rest in quiet sleep, While Friends in sorrow o'er thee weep.
